Welcome Coach Lake

We are thrilled to introduce Jalen Lake as our Interim Head Coach for Rancho Christian's 2024-25 basketball season. Coach Lake is no stranger to the Rancho Christian bench, having been an integral part of former Coach Barefield’s staff for years. His dedication and leadership have been evident in his roles as Assistant Varsity Coach and Junior Varsity Head Coach. Beyond his coaching duties at Rancho, Coach Lake has played a pivotal role in attracting top-tier athletes, helping to build our programs into what they are today. His impact extends far beyond the court as he continues to shape the futures of young athletes and students in the classroom here at Rancho.

Coach Lake’s journey in coaching began after graduating from California State University San Marcos with a degree in Business Management. Coach Lake has been a beacon of support and mentorship, facilitating scholarships and directly coaching over 30 athletes who currently play at the collegiate level. Lake has also served at other high school programs as an Associate Assistant Coach in San Diego, winning two CIF Championships in his career.

Central to Coach Lake’s philosophy is creating a Christ-centered environment that emphasizes hard work, confidence, unity, and preparation for university and life beyond. His dedication to nurturing not only skilled athletes but also well-rounded individuals aligns perfectly with our mission at Rancho Christian.

Coach Lake is married to Annika, and they are excitedly expecting their first child. Join us in welcoming Coach Lake to his new role and wishing him and his family all the best in this exciting new chapter!
