“Football is the perfect laboratory for life. It's full of highs and lows – the ultimate team sport where young men learn the importance of selflessness and dependability, showing up for their teammates no matter the outcome.”

Coach Jimmy Kemmis serves as both the Team Chaplain and Linebacker Coach for the Rancho Christian Eagles. A veteran coach, Jimmy has been on staff at Rancho Christian since 2012. Early on, he had plans to pursue a career in law, but soon discovered his true calling was in coaching football. He began coaching at the middle school level and quickly advanced, eventually becoming a CIF Champion Head Coach. Alongside football, Jimmy is also deeply passionate about theology. When he joined Rancho, these two passions came together perfectly in his dual role as both coach and chaplain.

As Team Chaplain, Coach Kemmis encourages and mentors both players and coaches, sharing weekly Bible-based, thought-provoking devotions. He is always available to talk to the team, whether as a group or individually, offering his extensive experience in mentorship and spiritual care. Jimmy's passion for guiding and encouraging young men is central to everything he does. His favorite Bible verse, Galatians 2:20, says, "I have been crucified with Christ; it is no longer I who live, but Christ lives in me; and the life which I now live in the flesh I live by faith in the Son of God, who loved me and gave himself for me.” He explains that this verse not only shaped his understanding of the Gospel but also captures the spirit of football.

More than just a sport, football is a brotherhood and a community. Coach Kemmis plays an integral role in fostering that sense of unity and support every week. We are blessed to have him at Rancho, carrying the banner of God’s grace and love for each student on our campus and helping to build our community of Christlike care.
