At the beginning of each new school year, Rancho Christian’s high school students have the opportunity to visit Catalina Island and grow closer to God, their peers, and to learn more about themselves. The retreat takes place at InterVarsity’s Campus by the Sea is an important part of the Rancho high school experience.

“The heavens declare the glory of God; the skies proclaim the work of his hands.” Students are encouraged to experience God through the beauty of creation that surrounds them. Hiking, kayaking, snorkeling, swimming and star-gazing are all fun activities in which students can see God’s hand at work.

The retreat has regular chapel times that include a guest speaker and student-led worship. These times are not meant to simply give students something to think about, but rather to challenge each student to deepen their relationship with God. Each night, students are also led in a discussion surrounding the day’s experiences and the challenges laid before them by the speaker.

Each year, students also enjoy class competition through a variety of events and games, that create a healthy bond among each class of students. By being placed at the beginning of the year, students are able to create lasting bonds of friendship with their fellow students, as well as with the high school’s faculty.

On January 24th our school leadership, faculty, and parents gathered to celebrate what God has been doing at Rancho Christian and and an exciting look at the future of our schools. Together working in a partnership, parents and faculty are poised to make great advances and further enrich our schools in the 2010-2011 year.

Vision 2010 is not just a catch-phrase or document; it is alive and forming, being shaped by those who really care for our schools and want to see them become the best they possibly can be. We invite you to be a part of Vision 2010 by joining with us in prayer, giving us feedback, giving of resources (time, talent, finances), and simply being supportive and encouraging.

Our desire is to partner with families, to serve one another in an effort to provide our children with world-class, Christ-centered (and fully integrated) education. We are in a unique position of posturing ourselves for great advancement academically, spiritually, and relationally; preparing students not only for university, but for life.

We are seeking partnership with parents to work together to enrich our schools, to problem solve, to serve side by side, and to dream about what could and should be – then to implement and move forward. In a practical sense, we are inviting parents to be involved in a greater capacity; quickly identifying problems and offering solutions, taking ownership of our campus, together serving our students and children to provide them with the best possible educational experience.

Alex McLean, Director of Admissions & Family Relations
When every class seems like Bible class.

Scott Treadway, Lead Pastor & President

September 2010 is the time to posture for the next significant step in the ongoing development of Rancho Christian into the kind of world-class school we envision it to be.

Process of Vision 2010

A Leadership Committee was assembled to dream, problem solve, and address the current and future needs of our schools.
