ACSI Piano Festivals (K-12)
The ACSI Piano Festivals give schools the opportunity to offer a venue for their piano students to perform and demonstrate their musical skill and accomplishments. The students have the marvelous experience of evaluation by Christian master piano teachers. Students walk away affirmed in their unique musical gift and with recommendations for further study. This year’s Piano Festival is being held at Calvary Christian School in Santa Ana, on March 16. The cost is $10 per student and the parents will be providing their own transportation. Val-O-Grams are a Valentine surprise for friends (a heart-shaped lollipop and message). They are on sale now through February 10th. All Val-O-Grams will be delivered to homerooms on Valentine’s Day. Val-O-Grams are on sale for .50 cents each

RCS Junior Cheer Camp

Rancho Christian MS and HS Cheer Squad will be hosting our first annual Jr Cheer Camp – RC Cheer Rocks!
Dates: Monday, January 30th and Thursday, February 2nd, from 3:15-4:45pm. Girls attending the camp will receive a RC cheer Rocks T-shirt and perform at the HS boys Basketball Game on Friday, February 3rd, at St. Jeannes. Cost of the camp is $30. RCS Night of the Stars – Elementary Talent Show

The “Night of the Stars” Talent Show is coming up. The application deadline is Friday, January 27. Applications are now available from your teacher (K-5), the Main Office, or in the Fine Arts Office. Please turn in all applications as soon as possible to the Main Office or the Fine Arts Office (B-107). Auditions are Friday, February 10th. The show is Tuesday, March 20th. Get your application and get ready to perform!

Parking Lot Safety

As we strive to keep our students safe, we would like to remind you of some important items you should be aware of. The circle drop is a quick drop only. This drop off is for students who are able to grab their backpacks and get out of the car quickly without assistance. If your student requires assistance getting out of the car because of age, projects, and/or backpacks in the back of the car, please park in the parking lot. Also, we ask that you pull forward in the loop so multiple cars can drop off at the same time. When pulling out from the curbs please check for pedestrians before moving forward. People do exit to the left of those parked on the curb to keep things moving if we get backed up.

Drop off in front of the school is acceptable for loading and unloading. Please do not park in this area and leave your car unattended. Please watch out for all parents and children crossing the street.

Box Tops News

Congratulations Mrs. Dunn’s class for turning in the most Box Tops in December, they earned cookies for the whole class. The next due date for Box Tops is January 31st. Thank you to everyone who has participated, so far this year we have earned $550!

Chapel Corner

Next week’s Chapel verse is Romans 10:10. And even though it is our special all school Veteran’s Day Chapel, we will still have the Sword Drills and Books of the Bible. Remember, the Veteran’s Day Chapel is Wednesday 11/9, at 9:00AM! If you are uncertain about any aspect of chapel (outfits, rehearsal times, etc.) please contact me. Here again is the “what to wear” list for your child(ren).

– Kindergarten: White dress shirts or white polo uniform shirts with long Khaki uniform pants (shorts ok too but prefer long).

– 1st and 2nd Grade: Blue Jeans and designated color shirts (Red, White or Blue – teachers will have the list).

– 3rd Grade – Khaki long uniform pants with their military branch outfit: Teachers will have details by students’ names: Marines: Khaki t-shirts, bandana (will be provided by school); Army: Gray school uniform shirts with hat (hat will be provided by school); Navy: White school uniform shirts with hat (hat will be provided by school); Air Force: Blue Chapel shirts.

– 4th and 5th Grade: Sunday Best (let me know if you would like some example images), no jeans please.

– NEWLY ADDED. 6^th Grade! – Dress as though you are from some aspect of America’s past (18^th, 19^th, or early 20^th centuries). If you have any questions, please email ChapelCorner@ranchocommunity.org And remember, families are welcome!

Elementary Attendance Policy for Pre-arranged Absences

Parents may request that a student be absent for family business (i.e. vacation). Please understand the following process must be followed 2 weeks prior to time off in order for teacher to prepare work & student to receive administrative approval: (1) Parent picks up form from office. (2) Parent signs form and returns to office. (3) Office logs in request and submits to Administrator for approval. When completed, a copy will be given to teacher and student to send home to parents. An approved pre-arranged absence will be limited to five consecutive school days in any given year, and counts towards total unexcused days missed.

Fresh & Easy Fundraiser: We need your help. Please start collecting your Fresh & Easy receipts that total over $20. For every $20 increment that you spend at ANY Fresh & Easy from now until December 31st, RCS will earn $1. Ask friends and family to save receipts too. Last year we earned over $950. Help us beat that record this year! You will find a drop box for receipts in the Main School Office. It’s that easy!

Uniform Policy Update

Elementary students need to wear shoes with closed toe and a closed heel. For safety reasons sandals and flip flops are not allowed to be worn. Thank you!

Medical News

With the cold & flu season quickly approaching we would like to remind you of our policy regarding illness. We have a 24 hour policy for children who have a fever or flu-like symptoms. Students may not return to school until they have been free of fever and/or flu-like symptoms for 24 hours without the use of medication. Also please notify the school immediately of any communicable disease. Thank you for your help in keeping our school a healthy place for our children.

Jog-a-thon 10/13/11

RCS all school Jog-a-thon - Thursday, October 13th will be held during the school day. Students will be jogging with their class and grade level.

We hope to make this one of our greatest fundraising events of the year; eliminating wrapping paper, cookie dough and catalog fundraisers. The funds raised by this event will be divided between PTF, Boosters and ASB, allowing ALL RCS schools to benefit!

With a minumum sponsor of $10, students will receive a RCS Spirit shirt. Please drop off your sponsor sheet and monies collected to your teacher by Tuesday, October 11th.

Class prizes will be awarded for school spirit and most money raised.

Please encourage your student to participate in this fun and fruitful fundraising event. LET’S GO EAGLE FAMILES!

Oct. 15 – Dance: “Shoot for the Stars” Our Homecoming Dance will take place on our campus, outside at the gazebo. All students and guests will be treated to dessert and dancing under the stars. Tickets are $25 thru Oct. 7, $30 thru Oct. 15 and $40 at the door. *Should you wish to invite a guest from another high school, your guest must have a “Dance Guest Pass” signed by their school administrator and turned in PRIOR to the day of the dance.
